ARTXCODE’s 2024 Year In Review

From museum exhibitions and our debut at a major international art fair to setting a record for the highest collection sale on the primary market, we are proud to reflect on the remarkable achievements of ARTXCODE-supported artists this year.
Below are our highlights from each quarter.
Q1
Sasha Stiles spoke with Hans Ulrich Obrist for the DLD conference, Words Can Communicate Beyond Words - Poetry in the Age of AI.
TASCHEN launched On NFTs, the first major art historical survey of the medium, featuring an introduction On Algorithmic Art by ARTXCODE’s founder Sofia Garcia, as well as writing by Toni Marinara, and profiles for many of our artists.
Entangled Others gave a talk at the V&A Museum on what art can teach us about our relationship with nature and artificial intelligence.
Entangled Others released the first two iterations of specious upwellings with Verse, an ongoing collection of diptychs that explore how all that surrounds us interacts ceaselessly in one form or another.
Q2
Juan Rodríguez García and Helena Sarin officially joined the ARTXCODE roster.
Linda Dounia launched Faux Letters with Avant Arte, a limited edition print release that investigates asemic writing through a machine-learning model.
For Art Basel Switzerland, we collaborated with MakersPlace to present Robotic Scrolls of the Mind, a series of six unique works by Eko33 and En Mi Cuerpo, a long-form collection by Juan Rodríguez García that sold out in under 24 hours. We were also proud to spotlight Sofia Crespo’s participation in Fellowship's expansive exhibition, Collaborations with the Artificial Self.
An editorial on Sasha Stiles’ collection FOUR CORE TEXTS took over Art Basel’s homepage: Sasha Stiles on how technology renews our relationship with storytelling.
Linda Dounia was selected as a Mozilla 2024 Rise25 honoree in the Artists category, an award acknowledging her critical engagement with AI, alongside artists such as Holly Herndon and Stephanie Dinkins.
Sasha Stiles spoke with Refik Anadol and Holly Herndon on a panel organized by 1OF1 as part of their Summer Jam programming. Watch the recording.
Linda Dounia presented a piece for Medseart’s exhibition and event in Menorca that brought 15 artists together to create work inspired by the Mediterranean.
Q3
We launched a new brand identity and website, partnering with Highlight.xyz to bring blockchain-backed art sales to ARTXCODE. Our inaugural release, Misunderstood Machines by our founder Sofia Garcia focused on the intertwined histories of algorithmic art and internet art while highlighting the emotional experiences that code-based artists endure.
We kicked off our Homepage Series, an initiative where artists periodically create a browser-based artwork for our website homepage, embodying our belief that the web browser is a canvas and the artistry of web development should be celebrated.
The National Gallery of Denmark opened its doors to Against All Odds: Historical Women and New Algorithms, where Ix Shells’ interactive installation served as a focal point for the show, offering insight into how modern technology can be used to communicate history in completely new ways.
Luke Shannon started The Steve Jobs Archive (SJA) Fellowship, a year-long program for young creators who are working at the intersection of technology and the liberal arts.
We launched ARTXCODE Studio Visits, a series of interviews diving deep into the minds of the creatives shaping the networked digital art landscape. Watch Episode 1 with Eko33.
REPETAE: Again, Again by Sasha Stiles received Ars Electronica’s first-ever AI Award of Distinction, and was presented in a special installation for the organization’s prestigious annual festival.
Ix Shells and her journey into generative art was featured in a short film by Ethereum Stories.
For Subjective Art Festival in New York City, we exhibited Vectors on the Rocks, a collection of hand-crafted ceramics by Helena Sarin, adorned with designs inspired by her AI artworks. The sixteen ceramic highball tumblers and a large vase sold out within a day.
ARTXCODE supported the Finnish National Gallery in their generative art competition, combine24.
Dreaming at Dusk, Ix Shells’ work that broke world records at auction in 2021 was displayed at Getty’s PST Art Science exhibition, Invisibility: Powers & Perils, curated by Yael Lipschutz.
Linda Dounia released Once Upon A Garden with Fellowship, a project that simultaneously speaks to the evolving nature of AI and the disparities in global efforts to record disappearing biodiversity. The collection was exhibited in Istanbul as part of The Silk Road program.
For the fourth chapter of Hans Ulrich Obrist Archives: Gustav Metzger – All of Us Together, Ix Shells was invited to create an artwork in tribute to the pioneering artist which was included in the exhibition at LUMA Arles.
Q4
SCOPE Art Show in Miami marked our first participation in a major international art fair, where we activated our entire roster through a booth presentation, panel discussions and large-scale screens at the fair’s main stage. We are also proud to have hosted a collectors brunch with J.P. Morgan Chase.
For the The Museum of Art and Light’s inaugural exhibition, Sasha Stiles presented an immersive reading room with both physical and digital iterations of her acclaimed collection COMPLETION: FRAGMENTS. Fragment #9 was acquired for the museum’s permanent collection.
Sasha Stiles’ thoughts on AI were extensively featured in Forbes.
A series of works by Linda Dounia were installed at IBM’s new offices in New York City. Curated by the design agency Artist Uprising, artworks by over 20 international artists were included to reflect upon the intersection of tech, nature, science and humanity.
We launched episode two of ARTXCODE Studio Visits with Lars Wander, which was closely followed by the artist’s participation at Paris Photo Fair with Nguyen Wahed.
Lars Wander released while true on Art Blocks Curated, a series exploring the concept of infinitely through ever-evolving digital pieces and fabric panels.
Sediment Nodes by Entangled Others was displayed as part of the V&A Museum’s inaugural Digital Art Season.
Eko33 launched Latent Ink with Fellowship, an expansive series of digital and physically-plotted abstractions that were previewed at Fellowship’s London space and culminated in the highest primary market sale this calendar year.
