En Mi Cuerpo #84, 2024

At the heart of Juan Rodríguez Garcia's generative artworks is an examination of human cognition and consciousness. Whether evoking the introspective experience of walking near the sea, as in Reflejos; the intricate spatial dynamics of city-life, as in Caminos; or the duality of an object's form and function, as in Forma y Orden, Juan explores an algorithm's ability to reflect and restructure our relationship with reality.

His latest collection, En Mi Cuerpo, is a culmination of his interest in the intersection of technology and psychology. Self-perception and depiction are brought into question as three-dimensional models of human figures are fragmented, twisted and turned, juxtaposed with geometric elements and complicated with color. His bold compositions challenge how humans have depicted themselves throughout history and invite us to contemplate how algorithms can augment our understanding of anatomy. While the structural elements of these artworks draw from the precision of architectural design and the famed idealism of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, his kaleidoscopic patterns are inspired by Puebla, his vibrant home town in Mexico.

Although obscured through color, geometry and scale, the figures of En Mi Cuerpo remain in focus, allowing them to be as relatable as they are surprising, underscoring Juan's ability to leverage technology to explore our shared humanity.

En Mi Cuerpo was presented by MakersPlace, and a curated selection of test outputs was exhibited at their booth at the Digital Art Mile during Art Basel, Switzerland 2024. Physical plots are available for collectors at an additional cost. Please reach out directly to hello@artxcode.io to learn more.
